Custom Patio in Cleveland
We took this patio to the next level by combining natural stone with brick to create a striking contrast well-suited for Northeast Ohio outdoor living. By transitioning from the natural stone pattern to a herringbone brick circle, we established the concept of distinct “rooms” without walls. The design allows the eye to naturally recognize separate spaces—One area invites dining and lounging, while the brick circle provides a welcoming setting for a fire pit or conversation space.
Our approach
This client wanted a larger space for relaxing and entertaining than the roughly 150-square-foot concrete pad they had before. We expanded the usable patio area to over 500 square feet, using premium materials that offer far more visual appeal than traditional poured concrete.
Thoughtful material selection is what truly defines this space—had it been a simple concrete rectangle or a single paver style, it wouldn’t have had the same impact. Our goal was to strike the perfect balance, avoiding designs that feel either boring or overly busy. By guiding the client through the design process, we arrived at a refined and timeless final result.
We carried the brick used in the circle throughout the design by bordering the entire patio with a sailor course, tying the space together seamlessly.
In addition to the patio, we installed low-voltage landscape lighting to illuminate the area at night—something the client absolutely loves!
To finish the space, we added light plantings, including evergreen trees that provide year-round interest and privacy from the neighbors. The result is the outdoor space this client had been dreaming of: a larger area for entertaining, with the added everyday bonus of being a beautiful space to relax.
Creating a custom outdoor space with high-quality materials like these is an investment. Adding plantings and landscape lighting elevates the project to a truly top-tier result. With that in mind, a space of this caliber can typically be expected to fall in the $20,000–$30,000 range.
