A Backyard in Balance

This client wanted to add additional outdoor living space and aesthetics to their backyard with a patio and plants. The client previously had a small concrete pad that we tore out and replaced with a beautiful paver patio. We designed the space with the HOA restrictions in mind, being that we could not extend the patio too far from the house into the “common area”.

Our approach

On this project, we had to work with an HOA (homeowners association) to get approval for the design. Once that step was complete, we were ready to start construction. We worked closely with the client to choose a paver style and color that they loved. We guided them toward what plant material would work best for their space, and they gladly let us take the reins from there.

As the project progressed, the client expressed interest in adding landscape lighting, which had not been in the original budget. However, after explaining the value that adding landscape lighting could bring, they agreed. We quickly presented the client with a change order proposal and were able to extend the life of their investment well into the evening! A project of this size and scope could be expected to be in the $21,000-$29,000 range.
